The Making

From thread to heirloom

Every Yantraa creation is a quiet collaboration between you and our Kilpauk atelier. Three stages, four to six weeks, and one garment that belongs to nobody else.

Sketching and fabric selection
Chapter I

Designed around you

It begins with a conversation at the Kilpauk atelier: your occasion, your body, the story you want to tell. Measurements are taken in person, a first sketch is drawn while you watch, and the palette is chosen for you alone. Nothing is cut until you have held the fabric in daylight.

Hand zardozi and zari work
Chapter II

Crafted with heritage

Master karigars layer zardozi, zari and silk thread by hand on a stretched frame, the way Indian ateliers have worked for generations. A single bridal panel can hold several days of it. The work that disappears into a hem or the inside of a sleeve is the work you never see and always feel.

The finished bridal ensemble
Chapter III

Finished with royal detail

Antique gold edges, a quiet embroidery on the hem, a blouse finished by hand. One or two fittings refine the line until the garment stops feeling like clothing. Four to six weeks after that first sketch it leaves the atelier as something closer to an heirloom than an outfit.
